It is time for another Super Bingo at the Accokeek Fire House Activity Hall on Sunday, May 6.
Doors open at 1 p.m., with dinner at 2 p.m. and bingo at 3 p.m. Admission is $15. There will be three guaranteed $500 jackpots, two $250 jackpots and all regulars pay $100. Free coffee, tea, punch will be available. Sodas will be sold. Dinner is $3 for all bingo players -- no carryouts!

Brandywine Lions Craft Fair
The Brandywine Lions Club is holding its annual Craft Fair, May 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at U.S. 301 and Cherry Tree Crossing Road, across from the Cheltenham Cemetery. Parking is free. Admission is $4 for adults and free for younger than 11.

Mathew Allen Rickett
Our deepest sympathy to the family of Mathew Allen Rickett of Bryan Point Road who passed away April 14 at Prince George's Hospital Shock Trauma Center in Cheverly.
He was the son of Cecil Rickett and Judy Wynn Rickett of Accokeek. He was born May 16, 1981, in La Plata. He graduated from Gwynn Park High School in Brandywine in 2000.
In addition his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Eddie Curtis and Ken Rickett; sister, Melissa; sisters-in-law, Natalie and Terri Rickett; nieces, Erin, Kayla and Ashley; nephews, Kenny Jr., Zachary and Ethan; and grandfather, Bernie Pipich.
He was a steamfitter for Hurley Co. He was accepted into the steamfitters local Union 602 apprenticeship program in September. He enjoyed racing his Suburban and boat racing, and had been his brother's main crewman since he started racing his boat in 1996. He enjoyed art, county western music and bluegrass music.
Services were held April 18 at the Accokeek First Church of God in Accokeek with the Revs. Alfred Cain and John Cain officiating. Interment followed at Shiloh Cemetery in Bryans Road. Pallbearers were Edward, Kenneth and Curtis Rickett, Nicholas Vathes, Dewey Hoskin and Jarred Clark. The Williams Funeral Home in Indian Head made the arrangements.
Mae Magdalen Langley
Sympathy to the family of Mae Magdalen Langley of Mechanicsville who passed away April 13 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Md., of heart failure. She was former resident of Accokeek, having lived at the corner of Bryan Point Road and Main Boulevard with her family. She is survived by her husband, George M. Langley Jr.; daughter, Nancy Cochrane; grandchildren, Kimberly Hunter, Douglas Hunter, Cynthia Borri and Denise Cochrane; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica Borzi; sisters Maxine, Alice, Laurie, Helen Haske, Thelma Gronal and Betty Hayes; and brother, Charles W. Smith.
Mae was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Keyser, W.Va., to the late Clay W. Smith and the late Lola Blanche Swick. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lola Mae Hunter. Raised under the United Bretheen faith in Quincy, Pa., she moved to the Southern Maryland area and lived in the area for 50 years. She worked as a clerk for Montgomery Ward.
Services were held April 19 at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall at 7 p.m. Internet was private. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of St. Mary's County, P.O. Little Emily Gilroy, daughter of Debra Gilroy of Mechanicsville (and my youngest granddaughter), celebrated her 5th birthday April 19, In her honor, a party was held at her home in Country Lakes with her cousin, Kaitlyn Weldon, and five of her little friends from the Jelly Beans Day Care Nursery on Route 6 attending. She received many nice gifts and a good time was had by all.

A roast pork dinner will be held at Faith United Methodist Church May 5 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church on Livingston Road. Dinners are $10 for adults, $8 for ages 6 to 12, and free for younger than 6.
