We're not in Kansas anymore March 24, 1999 First, I'd like to commend David Hyson on his letter about the Intercounty Connector (March 17). Well done! Montgomery County needs this road. We are no longer the collection of small towns that once dotted the landscape. Instead, the county is home to the second and fourth largest cities in the state (Gaithersburg and Rockville, respectively). The population is nearing a million people. Urban sprawl is already here, and it will continue regardless of whether or not this road is built. So I appeal to the county and state. Realize that this section of Montgomery County is growing, and will continue to do so. Do your job, do the job that 80 percent of your taxpayers support. Build the road! Dan Malouff, Gaithersburg |
